ATHENS (Greece) – As the anticipation for the EuroBasket Women tournament builds, the refereeing crew has gathered in Athens, Greece, for an intense three-day pre-competition camp. This essential preparatory event is designed to ensure the highest standard of refereeing for the championship, with a program aimed at fine-tuning their skills and creating consistency in their decisions.

The intensive agenda includes a variety of modules crucial for modern basketball refereeing. Referees are engaging in detailed Team Scouting sessions to understand the playing styles and strategies of the participating nations. The program also features in-depth IRS Modules, which involve both "talk-through" session and practical "walk-through" exercises on the court to ensure a thorough understanding and application of the Instant Replay System.

In a move to promote a positive and respectful sporting environment, the camp incorporates Rise awareness training. Furthermore, dedicated sessions focus on the nuances of the women's game and the application of the Scouting Application in a practical gym setting. Physical activation sessions are also a key component, ensuring that referees are in peak physical condition to meet the demands of the tournament.

The curriculum places a strong emphasis on practical officiating scenarios, with specific modules on Protocol Application, the correct interpretation of Unsportsmanlike Fouls, and developing a cohesive Game Plan. The increasingly vital role of the 4th referee is also being thoroughly examined. This Pre-Competition Camp is a crucial step in preparing referees to officiate the EuroBasket Women with precision and confidence.
