Structure
FIBA Referee Operations is responsible for licensing, training and managing FIBA referees and nominating referees for FIBA competitions. It also oversees the analysis of the Official Basketball Rules. This includes making proposals for changes.
The main education and training programmes are:
- Licensing of FIBA Referees & Commissioners (GOL)
- Licensing of Table Officials (TOL)
- Women in Officiating (WiO)
- FIBA Referee Instructor Programme (FRIP)
- Elite Programme for Referees (invitational - EP)
Regional
Each of the FIBA Regional Offices (RO) in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania has a Referee Manager, who is the closest counterpart of the FIBA Referee Operations and is responsible for FIBA officiating at the regional level. Their main task is the implementation of FIBA's global refereeing programme and to work closely with the national federations in their regions.
