MIES (Switzerland) – Expectations are growing for the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup, set to take place in Brno, Czechia, from July 12 to 20, 2025. FIBA has revealed the referees who will be officiating at this prestigious global tournament.
A total of 28 referees from across the globe have been chosen, representing all five FIBA regions: Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. Notably, 11 of the selected referees are women, highlighting the increasing representation of female referees in international basketball.
The referees will engage in a comprehensive 12-week preparatory program leading up to the World Cup to ensure optimal performance. This program will contain theoretical instruction with in-depth video analysis, communication enhancement, mental conditioning focused on tactical awareness and stress resilience, and a tailored physical fitness program overseen by the FIBA Referees’ Fitness Team.
Just before the start of the competition, the referees will gather in Brno for a three-day Pre-Competition Camp. This camp will emphasize the practical application of skills in simulated game scenarios and the development of a cohesive "17th team" alongside the 16 participating national teams, fostering a unified approach to officiating.
The selection of these referees demonstrates FIBA's commitment to upholding the integrity of the game and providing players with the best possible optimal platform to demonstrate their abilities.
