FIBA Regional Office-Asia hold referees workshop in Amman

BEIRUT (Lebanon) - The FIBA Regional Office-Asia continued its efforts of improving game officiating after successfully organizing another referees workshop in Jordan.

Held last March 8-10 in Amman, 32 male and female participants attended the sessions made possible in cooperation with the Jordan Basketball Federation (JBF).

The program included several subjects from both a theoretical and practical perspective, including the latest updates related to refereeing and basketball rules.

JBF President Mohammad Alayyan believes that these workshops will only help further the growth of local referees, which has always been one of the National Federation's aims.

“I thank the FIBA Regional Office - Asia for the continuous support they keep extending to the Jordanian Federation," he expressed. "I would especially like to emphasize their ongoing efforts to extend assistance in lifting the standards and quality of Jordanian referees."

"This important seminar was integral in highlighting the new developments and clarifying new rules and regulations. This, undoubtedly, will elevate the standards of refereeing, which is an absolute objective of the current Jordanian basketball board," he added.

JBF refereeing committee head Ahmad Tijani was as grateful for the workshop aimed to train national referees with current themes worked on in the development of FIBA performance.

"On behalf of the Jordan Basketball Federation and the central referees committee, we thank the FIBA Regional Office - Asia for their efforts," he said. "This workshop falls under the plan of the federation to develop its programs, and that includes the referees in particular."

These workshops are part of the FIBA Regional Office-Asia's plans to improve different departments of its National Member Federations, including the referees, which are undeniably an integral part of basketball games.
