MIES (Switzerland) – FIBA has confirmed the list of referees nominated for the upcoming FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup 2026, to be held in Brno, Czechia. A total of 28 referees representing all five FIBA regions have been selected for this prestigious youth event from July 11 to July 19. This selection follows an evaluation of international performance standards, including 10 female referees. The tournament will feature 16 participating countries, including the defending champions USA, who have won six of the previous seven editions, alongside hosts Czechia and representatives from every continent: Australia, Canada, Colombia, Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Germany, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Mexico, New Zealand, People's Republic of China, Slovenia, and Spain.
The refereeing crew for Brno brings a comprehensive global perspective, with referees traveling from 25 different countries. This diverse group includes many with prior experience, as well as new faces in world-level competitions.
Preparation and final number
The referees will participate in a comprehensive 12-week preparatory program leading up to the World Cup to ensure optimal performance. This program will include in-depth video analysis, communication enhancement, mental conditioning focused on tactical awareness and stress resilience, and a tailored physical fitness program overseen by the FIBA Referees’ Fitness Team.
Just before the start of the competition, the referees will gather in Brno for a three-day Pre-Competition Camp to align with the latest officiating standards on-site.
