ISTANBUL (Turkiye) – After ten weeks of comprehensive online preparation, the in-person Pre-Competition Camp (PCC) for the U17 Men's World Cup has officially started in Turkey, marking the first of seven basketball competitions to be held this summer at the World level. The  PCC stresses active engagement, open communication, and professional conduct among the 28 referees, FIBA Referee Operations Staff, FIBA Referee Instructors, Video Operators, and other experts participating from all over the globe.

Head of Refereeing, Carl Jungebrand, opened the clinic by emphasizing the importance of maintaining a focused mindset, reminding participants to "stop and breathe" when needed, before taking action. He stressed respect for the game, fellow crew members, and the prioritization of the game itself.

The camp aims to foster a task-oriented approach, ensuring referees are well-prepared and feeling confident. With the motto "it's time to deliver!" the clinic sets high expectations for performance.

The first day concluded with a psychologist-led session facilitated by Dubravka Martinovic, focusing on team scouting through group activities. This interactive exercise marks the start of the intensive two-and-a-half-day PCC, paving the way for successful officiating on the court.
