New 2PO Manual Published to support National Federations

MIES (Switzerland) - FIBA has announced the release of a new edition of the Two-Person Officiating (2PO) Manual, a guide designed to improve the standard of officiating in basketball games across the globe at all levels.

This updated manual, provides referees with the latest guidelines and strategies specifically tailored for 2PO. It covers a wide range of topics, including court coverage, decision-making, communication, and mechanics. The manual emphasizes the importance of integrating Individual Officiating Techniques (IOT) with 2PO mechanics for optimal officiating performance.

The Manual is based on up-to-date concepts and details of basketball refereeing today.

Carl Jungebrand, FIBA Head of Refereeing: "Around the world, most basketball games at the national level are officiated by two referees. Our objective is to equip referees with the tools and knowledge necessary to effectively manage the complexities of modern basketball within the 2PO framework" Jungebrand says. "By optimizing court coverage, decision-making, and communication, referees can ensure fair play, enhance game flow, and ultimately contribute to a more enjoyable experience for players and fans alike."

The 2PO Manual is now available in the FIBA iRef app, which provides all referees worldwide with access to a variety of resources, including rules, interpretations, technical and training materials.
