Monday Special: Reading the Game by Effective Rotations

Effective rotations in 3-Person Officiating were in focus during FIBA Referee Operations’ latest Monday Special webinar.

MIES (Switzerland) – FIBA Referee Operations continued its Monday Special webinar series on January 12, 2026, with “Back to Basics: Rotations,” featuring FIBA Level 2+ Referee Instructor Nadine Crowley from Canada. The session delivered a masterclass on the mechanics and elite mindset required to command the court. Focus was on the fundamentals of elite officiating, breaking down effective rotations into three key phases—closing down, rotating, and positioning. Crowley emphasized that high-level court coverage depends on reading the game, guided by one recurring principle: rotate often and rotate early—but not too early.
